Method of Edge Sealing Treatment for PVC and ABS Paintless Panels

Many paintless panel furniture may experience peeling over time, usually due to poor edge sealing treatment. This not only looks unattractive, but also has a significant impact on the durability and service life of the furniture. So, how to perform edge sealing treatment for paintless panel gluing? Next, experts from Shiyoumei will introduce the methods of edge sealing treatment to everyone.

1、 First identify the problem and its cause

Generally speaking, when edge banding, it is necessary to choose edge banding strips that match the color or material of the paintless board. This also looks harmonious and beautiful. There are two main problems with edge sealing of general paintless panels. The first is poor adhesion between adhesive and edge sealing strips, and the second is poor adhesion between adhesive and paintless panels. Moreover, it is also an important issue whether the adhesive used for paintless panels is environmentally friendly. Shiyoumei panels use a new type of environmentally friendly plant adhesive, with an environmental protection level leading the industry to E0 level.

There are two reasons why the adhesion between adhesive and edge banding strips or paintless panels is poor from an environmental perspective. The first reason is that the bonding surface of the paintless panel is rough and not smooth, resulting in fewer contact surfaces between the adhesive and the paintless panel, which naturally leads to poor adhesion; The second reason is that the wood fiber particles on the bonding surface are few, and the tensile strength is poor, which may cause the edge to tilt up accidentally.

2、 Method of edge sealing treatment

When sealing the edges, hot melt adhesive film is used as the adhesive. Firstly, the adhesive film is laid on the edge of the paintless board with the adhesive side facing downwards. Then, an electric iron is used to remove the adhesive film and stick it to the edge of the board. Then, the release paper on the back is torn off to leave the adhesive film on the paintless board.

Generally speaking, there are requirements for the flatness and stability of paintless panels. Shiyoumei introduces an environmentally friendly and wear-resistant paintless panel with a thickness of 20mm, which has a flat surface, uniform core strips, and is not easily deformed; Due to its unique thickness, it has better grip on screws, better stability, and strength. The completed cabinet is more sturdy and durable, with a stronger sense of design.

Then apply the edge sealing strip of the paintless board to the adhesive film and iron it with an electric iron at a temperature not exceeding 140 degrees Celsius. Finally, allow it to cool naturally and perform edge trimming. Pay attention to not damaging the board surface, and make sure that the planing surface is at a 20 degree angle to the board surface during edge trimming. Use a special atomic ash treatment board for automobiles to adhesive the bonding surface. The method is to use atomic ash as a base, and after 24 hours, solidify and polish it smoothly.

If there is adhesive peeling on the paintless furniture at home, you can use the method described above to seal the edges, which will definitely handle it perfectly.
